What to Consider when Servicing or Repairing a Battery
Testing the Battery
A battery commonly
lasts around three years. Upon reaching the three-year mark, a battery
usually "ages out" and requires replacing. That assumes the battery did
not suffer any other problems before reaching its third year. Extreme
temperatures, hot or cold, could cause problems with a battery.
Manufacturer defects might affect a battery. Regardless of the reason,
batteries with dead cells or other problems may die out sooner. Let our
Natick, MA team perform a test on the battery. If there's a problem, the
test should reveal it.
Cleaning the
Battery
Batteries can get dirty and suffer from a
corrosion buildup. You don't want corrosion on the tires, tray, or
terminal to worsen. Our team could clean off the corrosion and inspect
the battery to see if it is still in decent shape. It may be possible to
add an anti-corrosion solution to the
battery.
Checking for Loose
Connections
Are the cables loose for some reason? A
technician can look and see if there's anything wrong with the cables.
Hopefully, a minor fix becomes all that's
necessary.
Purchasing the Right
Battery
Perhaps your car would be better off with a
battery better suited for extreme temperatures. Not all batteries are
the same, and our Natick, MA team could assist with making the
appropriate purchase of a new battery.
